This is to certify that Charles Jackson private in Capt. Wm. J. Kendricks company letter G 37th Regt. Va Vol and son of James Jackson died at Staunton hospital on the 21st of December 1861 leaving no widow nor child. Said private enlisted on the 13th of July 1861 and served as a private soldier in the above named company and Regt five months and seven days. Given under my hand the 16th of March 1862.

I hereby certify that the above named soldier was a member of my company of the 37th Va Regt and that he has not reced any pay for his service since the 31st day of August 1861 and that the Confederate States is due him for his services three months and twenty days.
