The records show that one William N. Leece, a 1st Lieutenant of Company G, 29th Regiment Virginia Infantry, Confederate States Army, entered the service 27 March 1862 at Lebanon, Virginia.

He tendered his resignation 22 July 1862 at Camp Britton, Tazewell County, Virginia, and same was accepted to take effect 7 August 1862.
