Notes: Died of fever during War. The 48th was never in Tennessee, according to CSR he never served with unit. Findagrave has a Stephen Ray in Knoxville, died 12/20/1863. Probably joined Jeffress Artillery. Served as blacksmith and died in Knoxville according to wife's 1940 obituary.
