I CERTIFY, That the within named Alfred Slaughter, a private of Captain T. J. Smiths Company (I) of the 37th Regiment of Va vols, born in Floyd Co., in the State of Virginia, aged 37 years, 5 feet, ten inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and by occupation a farmer, was enlisted by Capt. S. Hunt, at New Garden, Va., on the 2nd day of May, 1861, to serve one year, and is now entitled to discharge by reason of the expiration of his term of service.

The said Slaughter was last paid by Capt. Haller to include the 31st day of Dec., 1861 and has pay due from that date to the present date.
