Card 2 ARMY OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES. CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY FOR DISCHARGE. Michael Sword, Private, of Captain A. R. Russell's Company (B,) of the 21st Bat. Va. Vol. Regiment of Confederate States Army, was enlisted by Major John B. Thompson, of the Pound Gap Battn. of Army E. Ky, at Jonesville, Va on the 10th day of April 1862, to serve three years; he was born in Harlen Co., in the State of Kentucky, is 27 years of age, 5 feet, 11 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, and by occupation when enlisted a Farmer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days. STATION: Camp Saltville Va DATE: July 27 1862 A. R. Russell, Capt. Commanding Company B. I CERTIFY, that I have carefully examined said Michael Sword of Captain Russell's Company and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of Disease of the Heart. C. C.
