I CERTIFY, That the within named Benjamin Whetsell a Sgt of Captain John V. Duff Company (C) of the 37th Regiment of Virginia Volunteers, born in Russell Co. in the State of Virginia, aged 35 years, 5 feet, 9 inches high, Fair complexion, Blue eyes, Light hair, and by occupation, a Farmer was enlisted by Capt. John F. McElhenny at Lebanon on the 10 day of May 1862, to serve one year, and is now entitled to discharge by reason of expiration term of service.
The said Benjamin Whetsell was last paid by Capt. Cole to include the 28 day of February 1862, and has pay due him from that date to the present date.

There is due him ninety seven dollars and 66 cts.
He is indebted to the Confederate States six dollars on account of Cloathing over drawed.
Given in duplicate at Gordonsville.
