Letter of William Blackwell

A letter written by William Blackwell from Camp near Gordonsville.

Letter 1 describes camp life and skirmishes near Gordonsville.

Blackwell enlisted in the 37th Virginia Infantry on 3/20/62 at Glade Springs for three years. He was wounded in the thigh at Chancellorsville in May of 1863. He was sent to a hospital in Richmond where he died and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
