Letter of Benjamin F. Vermillion

Benjamin F. Vermillion was the son of Jessee Vermillion and Obedience Elliott. He was born on 5/23/1838 in Russell County; married on 12/10/1857 to Mary Catherine Reynolds. He served in both the 37th Virginia Infantry and the 16th Virginia Cavalry. He died on 10/15/1913 and is buried in Russell County. He is mentioned in Lebanon News as receiving the "Southern Cross of Honor" from Daughters of the Confederacy in 1907.
