Sir,

I have to report the death in this Hospital of Capt. Robert E. Cowan, Comp. I, 37th Va. Reg't who died at 11 o'clock A. M. from a gunshot wound of the abdomen and arm. He was a native of Russell County, Va and in the 31st year of his age.

His effects have been taken in charge by his brother who was detailed as nurse for him.
