James a Gilmers Company (I) of the 37th Regt Va Vols Born in Russell County in the State of Virginia aged twenty one years six feet high fair complexion dark eyes dark hair and by profession a farmer was enlisted by Capt. Simeon Hunt at Newgarden VA on the 21st day of May 1861 to serve twelve months was kiled the 2nd day of July 1863 in the Battle of Gettysburg the said sergt John L. Fletcher was last paid by Capt Boyd A. Q. M. to include the 30th day of April 1863 and has pay due him from that date to the date of his death.
