FORM FOR RETIRING A SOLDIER.
Under the act to provide an Invalid Corps, approved February 17, 1864.

To all whom it may concern:
Know ye, That Lafayette Gilmer, a Sergeant of Captain Fickle's Company, 37th Va Regiment of Infantry, who was enlisted the 10th day of May, one thousand eight hundred and Sixty-one to serve one year, is hereby honorably retired from military service, with the pay and emoluments of a Sergeant, in the army of the Confederate States. (duty assigned [...] Abingdon Virginia)

Said L. Gilmer was born in Russell County in the State of Virginia, is thirty years of age, Five feet Seven inches high, Fair complexion, Grey eyes, Dark hair, and by occupation, when enlisted, a farmer.

Given at Gordon's Div. Hospital, this Eighteenth day of March, 1865.
