A) Appears on roll July 17 to Aug. 31, '61, only roll on file, without remark., Prisoner or absence not shown. No connection with John W. Hackney, two different men. F. V. V. J. R. R. 7-20/15 12 July 20, 1915 Respectfully returned to the President, Tennessee Board of Pension Examiners, Nashville. The records show that one John W. Hackney, private, 2d sergeant and private, Company K (name not borne as J. W. Hackney and not found as of Company A), 48th Reg't Virginia Infantry, C. S. A., enlisted June 25, 1861, and a regimental return on file for March, 1862, shows him absent without leave since March 21. No later record of him as been found. The records also show that a Joseph Hackney served as 4th corporal in Company K (also known as Companies C & D) of said regiment. His record will be furnished if desired.
